Created in 1899, this vintage stereograph features two nearly identical images of the promenade on the Brooklyn Bridge. Stereographs are a unique piece of photographic history. Each consists of two nearly identical photographs, taken roughly 7cm apart from each other, which were typically mounted on a card. When these stereograph cards were viewed with a special device known as a stereoscope, the viewer saw an illusion of a 3-dimensional image. Stereographs were most popular between 1870 and 1920, with many collecting them along their travels.
Working from a digital scan of the original stereograph, our team has digitally restored this historic photograph; we've corrected fading, repaired damage, and removed dust and dirt. Our fine art reproduction prints are made with archival, museum-quality paper and canvas. Print reproductions of the unique stereograph images in our collection make great decor pieces and are sure to start a conversation. If you'd like to read more about our prints, just click here!
