Bryce Canyon National Park is located in southwestern Utah and is the site of this unique vintage photograph, captured in 1940 by Russell Lee. Bryce Canyon is known for its hoodoos, which are distinctive geological structures that can be seen in this image. The Hoodoos are formed by frost weathering and stream erosion of the river and lake bed sedimentary rock.
The original safety film negative had gathered its fair share of dirt, dust, and damage over the last 80 years, and had also been subject to a degree of fading that is common with old photographs. Working from a digital file of the image, our team has carefully digitally restored this beautiful photograph to its original condition, removing all traces of age.
