The Delaware Water Gap borders New Jersey and Pennsylvania, where the Delaware River cuts through the Appalachian Mountains. The larger Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is a popular destination for canoeing, hiking, climbing, and fishing. Places of natural beauty like this have attracted visitors seeking views of the enduring landscapes for centuries. Beyond the rocky shore in this vintage image is a lone canoer making his way down the river. This vintage landscape photo was captured in 1900.
