Gore Hall was the first dedicated library building on Harvard's campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Gore Hall was built in 1839, and this historic photograph of the building was captured near the end of the century, between 1890 and 1899, with a glass negative. In 1913, Gore Hall was demolished to make way for the construction of Widener Library.
Our team has digitally restored this vintage photograph, helping to preserve the history of this building, which no longer stands. Damage has been digitally repaired, dust and dirt removed, and fading corrected. Our fine art reproduction prints make great gifts for alumni or anyone interested in Harvard's history. Thanks to our archival paper and canvas, our prints will last a lifetime.
