The Mount Washington Cog Railway has been climbing to the summit of Mount Washington since 1869. After businessman and inventor Sylvestor Marsh nearly died while summiting the mountain, he sought to build a safer method for people of all ages to reach the peak. Thus, "The Cog" was born and has been delivering tourists to the summit ever since. Jacob's Ladder is the steepest section of the Cog Railway, climbing at a 37.5% grade.
This vintage photograph of Jacob's Ladder was captured in 1900 with a dry plate negative. Our team has digitally restored the image, removing any traces of wear and tear. With the restoration complete, we can now offer our archival reproduction prints. Our prints are available on paper and canvas, each of which offers a unique look. With a range of sizes available, there is certainly something for everyone. Still, if you don't see an option that works for you, let us know! We'd be happy to work with you on making a custom print.
