The Library of Congress is the United States' oldest federal cultural institution, and was founded in 1800. The collection has been housed in numerous facilities as the volume of items expanded and more space was required. This vintage image gives viewers a look at the iconic Thomas Jefferson Building while it was under construction in 1894. The image is one in a series that was made throughout the six-year construction period.
