This vintage stereograph offers a tranquil scene; a woman sits in a small boat on Lily Pond. In the distance stands the observation wheel of the St. Louis World's Fair. This quiet moment was captured in 1904. Stereographs are a unique piece of photographic history. Each consists of two nearly identical photographs, taken roughly 7cm apart from each other, which were typically mounted on a card. When these stereograph cards were viewed with a special device known as a stereoscope, the viewer saw an illusion of a 3-dimensional image. Stereographs were most popular between 1870 and 1920, with many collecting them along their travels.
We've digitally restored this vintage stereograph image, repairing damage, removing dust and dirt, and correcting fading. We've maintained the warm sepia tone of the original stereograph card. You can bring this quiet moment in history home with our fine art reproduction prints. Our prints are made with archival, museum-quality paper and canvas. Both surfaces are rated to last 100+ years, so you can be sure your print will last a lifetime, no matter which option you choose. You can find more information about our prints here.
