Boston's public transit system has undergone updates and expansions over the years, and vintage maps can help track this history. This particular map of the MBTA system was created in 1965 and shows train lines along with car, bus, and trolley lines throughout the city. A close-up cutout in the lower left gives viewers a better look at the transit lines running through central Boston. While some vintage maps in our collection feature illustrations and artwork, this map was all about function, guiding viewers through the transit options in the city.
Like our other vintage maps, we've taken care to digitally restore this historic map, correcting severe yellowing and returning it to its original condition. Our fine art prints reflect this restoration and are made with archival, museum-quality materials. Available on paper and canvas, in a range of sizes, we have something to fit every space!
