This striking vintage photograph features two Navy N2S planes at the Naval Air Base in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1942. The N2S was one of the most-produced biplanes in history, with over 10,000 being produced, 4,000 of which were made for the US Navy. These planes served as the primary trainer planes for Navy pilots during World War II. The plane was officially named the "Kaydet', but it was rarely referred to as such. Instead, most referred to it as the Stearman, after its original manufacturer.
