Pillsbury Hall is the second-oldest building on the University of Minnesota campus, having been built in 1889. This vintage photograph of the iconic building was captured in 1905, 16 years after it was constructed. Originally serving as a hall of science, Pillsbury Hall was named after John S. Pillsbury, governor of Minnesota from 1875 to 1881, during its construction. Today, the building is the home of the Department of English and its creative writing program, as well as the liberal arts engagement hub.
Our team has skillfully digitally restored this old university image. Without access to the original glass negative, we instead worked from a digital scan, removing dust and dirt, repairing damage, and correcting fading. With this work done, our reproduction prints reflect the original, pristine condition of the image, free of the wear and tear of time. Our prints are made on archival paper and canvas, both museum-quality materials.
