This photograph of a public library in Portland, Maine, was taken sometime between 1890 and 1901. The photo shows the front of the building, with ivy growing over the stone facade. The building served as Portland's downtown library for 90 years, until the library moved into a new building in 1979. A few years later, the building was acquired by the Maine College of Art. Today, the building is a local historic landmark and houses office spaces.
