Shasta Daylight Train, Portland to San Francisco
Pickup available at Old Town Print Gallery
Usually ready in 2-4 days
The Shasta Daylight train ran from Portland to San Francisco and back. The train ran from 1949-1967 and took 15 and a half hours to make the trip in either direction. This was a great replacement for the heavyweight trains that took nearly a full day and night to make the same journey. Additionally, the Shasta Daylight was the Daylight train to be diesel-powered, and the only one to run beyond California.
This vintage poster advertising the Shasta Daylight was made in 1950, just a year after the train began running. It features the slogan "the million dollar train with the million dollar view". Indeed, passengers were graced with beautiful views throughout the trip, including the train's namesake, Mount Shasta. We've digitally restored this poster, correcting fading and discoloration, as well as repairing damage and removing dust/dirt.
Vintage posters were not made in standard sizes, so unfortunately, we aren't able to offer all of our posters in the exact same sizes. In an effort to create a standard system, the sizing for our posters is based on the long dimension of each image. While the short dimensions will vary, you can order multiple prints with the same long dimension to create a uniform look when displaying your prints.
We understand that each customer's needs are unique, like our prints. Need a custom size? Have any special requests? We are all ears!
