Our collection includes a number of vintage stereograph images. This one depicts a winter scene at Harvard, with a large group of people milling about on both sides of the Old Gate in 1902. Stereographs are a unique piece of photographic history. Each consists of two nearly identical photographs, taken roughly 7cm apart from each other, which were typically mounted on a card. When these stereograph cards were viewed with a special device known as a stereoscope, the viewer saw an illusion of a 3-dimensional image. Stereographs were most popular between 1870 and 1920, with many collecting them along their travels.
We've digitally restored this vintage stereograph image. We've repaired damage, removed dust and dirt, and corrected fading. With the digital image restored, our fine art prints reflect the original, pristine condition of the image. Our prints are made with care at our studio in Alexandria, Virginia. We use only the highest-quality materials; our paper and canvas are both archival and museum-quality, rated to last 100+ years.
