Captured in 1905, this vintage photograph captures the Rotunda at the University of Virginia. Designed by Thomas Jefferson, the Rotunda was completed in 1826 and was modeled after the Pantheon in Rome. The building served as a library at the center of the new university. At the time, it was common for a church to be the center of universities, so many viewed the Rotunda as a symbol of Jefferson's belief in the separation of church and education.
Our skilled team has digitally restored this old university photograph, carefully bringing it back to life. We worked with a digital scan of the original glass negative to repair damage and remove all traces of dust and dirt. Thanks to this digital restoration work, we're able to offer reproduction prints that reflect the original image, free of the wear and tear of time.
Our fine art prints are made with archival, museum-quality materials. Both our paper and canvas are rated to last over 100 years without fading, ensuring you'll be able to enjoy them for a lifetime. You can find more info about our prints and materials here.
