Many vintage photographs give us a clear look at how much things have changed over time, and this is surely one of those images. Captured between 1861 and 1865, this image depicts a train crossing a bridge on the Orange & Alexandria Railroad. The bridge is a far cry from what most people would be used to seeing today- the train takes up the entire width of the bridge, putting it right at the edge with no safety rails. The criss-crossing wooden beams supporting the bridge may not seem sturdy enough to support the train, and yet they get the job done.
We have digitally restored this intriguing vintage image, digitally repairing damage and correcting fading. Our reproduction prints are available in a range of sizes, on fine art paper and canvas.
