Step back in time with this truly unique vintage Washington, DC photograph! Anyone familiar with parking in DC will know what a struggle it can be, and this image from the 1930s shows us that the problem is not new! In the image, a young boy tackled the era's parking problems with a hint of creativity. The boy used a lawn mower motor along with a set of motorcycle gears to build a miniature car that fits perfectly in small gaps between other cars. 

Originally captured in 1937 with a glass negative, this vintage photo combines nostalgia and innovation in a single frame. As with every image in our collection, this photo has undergone a digital restoration process within our Alexandria, VA studio, ensuring our reproduction prints reflect the original condition of the image, free of the wear and tear of time. Each print is made with care using museum-quality, archival materials.
