A shift in the workforce took place during World War II, as more and more women began to fill roles previously held by men. Many factories where women had previously worked to produce household goods shifted to producing items needed for the war. Additionally, women began taking jobs in the aviation industry, working as riveters, welders, and inspectors. Commonly referred to as "Rosie the Riveter", these women played an essential role in the war effort and helped to reshape outdated views about women's abilities. This vintage photograph from 1942 depicts a woman working at Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach, California. Many types of aircraft were built at this facility, most notably the B-17F, the A-20, and the C-47.

Our team has digitally restored this historic photograph. Working on a digital scan of the original color negative, we repaired damage, removed dust and dirt, and corrected fading and discoloration to bring this photograph back to life. Our fine art reproduction prints are the perfect way to bring this moment in women's and aviation history into your home or office. Our prints are made with archival, museum-quality paper and canvas, each rated to last 100+ years without fading.
