Our collection includes hundreds of vintage photographs and posters, all of which have been digitally restored by our skilled team. When browsing our images you'll find a number of curated collections to help you find what you need. With collections such as scenic views, Chicago, and aviation, we've got something for everyone. Each of our images was hand selected, and we wanted to tell you a little bit more about the images in our collection and why we chose them.
Vintage Photography and Posters
As mentioned, we specialize making fine art reproduction prints of restored vintage photographs and posters. All of our images are sourced from historic archives, and are true vintage photographs and posters, rather than being modern photographs staged to look vintage, or posters made today in a vintage style.
Vintage photographs and posters have a special charm to them, aided by the strong sense of nostalgia they evoke. Each one tells a unique story, and we love getting to bring those stories back to life with digital restoration.
Accepted Age of Images
The answer the question "how old does something have to be in order to be vintage?" will vary depending on who you ask. Everyone has a slightly different definition of vintage. While we don't have a strict cutoff point, we do try to keep the images in our collection on the older side. The youngest photographs in our collection were made in the late 1940s. Most of our images are much older than that, dating back to the mid-1800s through the early 1900s.
Reproduction Prints
While all of our images are vintage, the prints we are making of these images are modern. After the digital restoration process we create museum quality, archival prints on fine art paper and canvas. This offers the best of both worlds; the appeal and intrigue of vintage photographs, with all the advantages of modern technology and materials to create the best prints possible of these beautiful and unique images.
Advantages over Original Prints
One of the biggest advantages of reproduction prints over original prints is archival quality. We’ve come a long way over the years in improving photographic methods and storage materials, and we want to take advantage of these advancements in quality. Many original prints of vintage photographs are faded, discolored, and damaged. Using archival materials helps us avoid these issues with our prints. Of course, we can't control how they are handled once they leave our studio, but we can be sure that at least in terms of color and tonal quality, they will last a lifetime, thanks to the archival ratings of the papers and inks we use. For the absolute best results, we also recommend framing your paper prints with archival materials.
Restored to Original Conditions
With our process, we are able to restore these vintage photographs to their original condition. We can repair the damage digitally, correct any fading or discoloration, and bring new life to these images. With this method, our prints are historically accurate and true to the original image, as it was before it gathered dust and damage over time.
Size Options for Prints
Reproduction prints also have the added benefit of being able to be created in a range of size options. If you were in the market for original prints, you would be confined to whatever size someone happened to print a particular image, and you would most commonly find prints on the smaller end of the scale.
With reproduction prints, we are able to offer all of our images in a range of sizes, from small to statement piece. No matter which image you fall in love with, you’ll be able to order a size that fits your space and budget. And if you don't see a size option that works for your space, please reach out to us! We're happy to accommodate custom requests whenever we can.
Surface Options
Our images are all available as both paper and canvas reproductions, giving you the option to choose whatever aesthetic you prefer. Paper prints require framing, and can be framed with moulding in a vintage style to match the vintage photograph if you like. Canvas prints, on the other hand, do not require framing, and are ready to be hung on the wall as is. These can often have a more modern feel, blending vintage with modern in a beautiful print.
If you're not sure which print surface you want to choose, check out this helpful guide we wrote on the subject, here. In this guide we break down the pros and cons of both options to help you decide what works best for you and your space.
How we Choose our Images
We choose our images based on a number of factors. These include subject matter, file size and quality, and level of restoration required. Ultimately, we are choosing images that will allow us to create the highest quality prints possible, and avoiding images that are deficient in quality in one way or another. We're always looking to expand our collection, and are regularly searching historical archives for hidden gems.
